Sickness Certificates (Fit Notes)

You must give your employer a doctor's 'fit note' (sometimes called a 'sick note') if you've been ill for more than 7 days in a row and have taken sick leave. This includes non-working days, such as weekends and bank holidays.

Home Visits

If you are unable to get to the surgery owing to illness, your doctor may be able to visit you at your home.

To book a home visit, please call your surgery after 8:30am and before 11am and be ready to give the receptionist some idea of the nature and urgency of the problem. This helps the doctor to plan the appropriate response. For urgent matters outside these hours, the duty doctor is available.

Frequently asked questions

How long are GP appointments?

Routine GP appointments last up to 15 minutes. If you have several issues to discuss with your GP or you would like to discuss a complex issue, you may prefer to book a double appointment.

Can I see someone before or after work, or at weekends?

We no longer offer early morning appointments.

Evening appointments are available Monday to Wednesday on alternate weeks. These appointments must be booked by phone. Please note that our phone lines are only open 8:30am to 6pm Monday to Friday.

I'm under 16, will you tell my parents that I came to see you?

We provide a confidential service to all our patients, including those aged 16 or under. This means we won't tell anyone about your visit without your permission (sometimes called 'consent').

The only time we would ever share information without your consent is if you or someone else could be in danger. We would always talk to you about this first.
